Vans OTW Collection Spring 2013: Kitu Print Apparel & Footwear Pack

The Kitu Print pack from the Vans OTW Collection brings forth new apparel and footwear this spring. Inspired by ‘90s hip hop and infused with Vans DNA, the Kitu Print blends the funky geometric patterns of the era with classic Vans artwork. The eclectic motif presents itself on the uppers of the Stovepipe and spreads over the collared Portmore button-up. The Piercy and Checker DNA t-shirt produce subdued aesthetics; Kitu Print adorns the linings of the suede mid-top and embellishes the sleeve and pocket details of the heavyweight tee. "Real-Life Tetris" by Michael Johansson

Swedish artist Michael Johansson makes his found objects public art installations look like Tetris by putting them in coherent color coordinated order creating really cool eye catching scenes. As the artist puts it himself : “Maybe you can call it real-life Tetris. I take used objects because they kind of lived a life before I find them. Recap: Sneaker Pimps x Hitman In-Store Event at The Holy Grail

Last night Sneaker Pimps brought their Hitman HD Tour to Los Angeles. Hosted at The Holy Grail in the heart of downtown, the tour celebrated the release of the latest Hitman game with an in-store XBOX tournament, a pop-up exhibition with artwork inspired by the franchise, live art by SN'EADS by Ree and a special performance by Thurz. The Woven pack introduces new colorways of the Vans OTW Ludlow and Prelow this spring. Utilizing embossed woven detailing throughout the quarter panel, the Ludlow presents a set of black leather uppers while the Prelow features a canvas fabrication throughout its toe vamp. Modern design meets the original as the Ludlow refines the classic wino style through upgraded materials and sophisticated simplicity and the Prelow builds the timeless oxford aesthetic on an UltraCush Lite outsole. Laser etched tongue branding, aged metal eyelets and tonal laces complete the Woven pack colorways for delivery this month at select Vans OTW retailers.

9 On The Wall

Our friends over a Contrast Magazine present "9 On The Wall" this Friday, February 1, at the Human Imagination in Honolulu. The Hawaii-based mag brings the work of photographers Sagan Lockhart, Lenard Smith, Zak Noyle, Mike Coots, Kanoa Zimmerman and more together for this exhibition. "9 On The Wall" also celebrates the release of Contrast issue 9.

Amazing Gifs by Mr.Div

Exhibition: "Dialogue Lineaire" by Jeongmoon Choi

Korean artist Jeongmoon Choi exhibits some unique art installations for her first solo show, "Dialogue Lineaire". Currently running the 26th at Paris's Galerie Laurent Muller, "Dialogue Lineaire" presents three-dimensional pieces which utilize thread and UV light to create surreal environments in each setting. "760 Stacked Bicycles" by Ai Weiwei

Currently on display at Galleria Continua in San Gimignano "760 Stacked Bicycles" by Chinese contemporary artist Ai Weiwei is one impressive piece where each bike physically attached to each other one creating a single structure which can be viewed from the inside of the sculpture. DIY Bedford by Ryoskatekov

I know guys that skate in their Bedfords but I've never heard of guys turning their Bedfords into skates...well until today. Dude by the SkateLog pseudonym of Ryoskatekov accomplished the latter.

He hollowed out the footbed and outsole of the Bedford and built a roller skate base FROM SCRATCH. Props to you, Ryo. That's pretty ****** cool. Interested? Check out his full tutorial at SkateLog Forum.

Harmony Korine's "Spring Breakers" Trailer

Directed by Harmony Korine and starring James Franco doing his best Riff Raff impersonation, Selena Gomez, Ashley Benson, Vanessa Hudgens, Rachel Korine and Gucci Maine. "Spring Breakers" is the story of four college girls who rob a restaurant so they can go to spring break vacation in Florida and then everything kicks off. Just watch the trailer, it's amazing. The film is out in theaters this spring.

Vans OTW Collection Spring 2013: Perf Pack Accessories and Footwear

The Vans OTW Collection unveils the Perf pack for spring 2013. The pack is characterized by its utilization of premium perforated nubuck throughout four silhouettes – the Alcon, Lasdun, Prelow and Stovepipe – and two accompanying accessories – the Washburn Backpack and Balfour Wallet – from the line. The high-top Alcon and lightweight Prelow surface with black colorways while the blucher-styled Lasdun and deconstructed Stovepipe present grey renderings. Grey also dresses the accessories with diamond-patterned perforation covering the exterior and interior compartment of the Balfour Wallet as well as the trim and paneling details of the mint canvas Washburn Backpack. Mint is further exhibited on the hangtags and alternative laces of each sneaker from the pack. The accessories and footwear from the Perf pack arrive this February at Vans retail locations and select OTW stockists.

Opening Recap: Jack Pierson's "The End Of The World"

Regen Projects in Hollywood was a stage set for Jack Pierson's "19th comeback attempt in as many years he still relentlessly bangs a drum for the critical and curatorial attention that has eluded him since his move into big budget studio roles" His latest exhibition " The End Of The World" is a play on the world of cinema meeting contemporary art, represented in massive typography installation of the exhibit title as well other pieces reflecting the idea. Vans Vintage Collector Exhibition at House of Vans Berlin Recap

The crew over at Vans Europe put together a pretty awesome exhibition utilizing over 200 pairs of vintage Vans, with some of them dating back to the 1960s. The exhibit was a part of their House of Vans takeover in Berlin during fashion week. The sneaker showcase was a compilation of several Vans collectors including Skateboard Museum founder/owner Jürgen Blümlein, The Other Side of the Pillow's Henry Davies and our homie/artist/longtime Vans collaborator Dimitri Coste. Props to the Euro crew, each display looked amazing and props to all three collectors, you definitely put my shoe game to shame. Check out pics from the event after the jump!

Opening Recap: "Anywhere But Here"

"Anywhere But Here" photography exhibition opened last weekend at Space 15 Twenty in LA. Curated by Victor Saldana the show features works from Kenneth Cappello, Curtis Buchanan, Tofer Chin, Ako and Atiba Jefferson, Rick Rodney, Peter Sutherland, Chris Shonting, Steve Lee and many many more. Estevan Oriol x Gangster Squad Photoshoot

The SA Studios crew recently linked up with Warner Bros. to promote the film studio's latest flick, "Gangster Squad". Our homie Cartoon created a custom billboard for the movie in Downtown LA while fellow Soul Assassin Estevan Oriol brought his camera to Chinatown to shoot portraits of the cast including Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Robert Patrick and Michael Pena, among others. The Lasdun is a slimmed-down blucher silhouette that blends timeless court shoe styling with modern sensibility, and the Prelow infuses the classic Vans low-top look with UltraCush lightweight technology to bring comfort and style to another level. Barry McGee's Brooklyn Mural for "Art in the Streets 2012"

Painter and graffiti artist Barry McGee AKA Twist (and a few other pseudonyms as you'll find out in the video) created a large mural as part of Cadilllac and Vanity Fair's "Art in the Streets 2012" project. The side wall of Brooklyn's Mark Morris Dance Center gets transformed into a huge piece art piece with various patterns, illustrations and typographies embedded into it along with McGee's aliases.

Vans OTW Collection Spring 2013: New Colorways of the Alomar

The Vans OTW Collection rolls out four new renderings of the Alomar this spring. Dubbed the "Basic" pack, this offering introduces simple makes of the line's most popular silhouette with green, blue, red and black colorways for January delivery. The trio of colored options sport canvas uppers and leather heel counters while the fourth alternative presents an all-black aesthetic with additional pig suede detailing integrated into its design. Each high-top is finished off with tonal eyelets, flat shoe laces, mesh linings and minimal branding. The spring 2013 colorways of the Vans OTW Alomar ship this month to select OTW retailers.

Justice League of America Dollar Bills

We are big fans of art projects involving currency and this one is no exception. German artist Aslan Malik defaced US Dollars and made the presidents into characters from Justice League of America. Amazing. Peep more images beyond the fold.

Danny Boyle's "Trance" trailer

Acclaimed director Danny Boyle's latest film "Trance" is set to hit the theaters in the Spring of this year starring James McAvoy, Vincent Cassel and Rosario Dawson. "The story revolves around an art auctioneer who gets caught up in a heist. Following from a blow to the head, the art dealer develops amnesia and can't remember the location of the priceless painting. The thief then hires a hypnotherapist to unlock McAvoy's mind, which leads to complications." The trailer looks really exciting and the tag line "But no piece of art worth more then a human life" is the truth. Peep the video above.

Salvador Dalí's "Alice in Wonderland" Illustration

Originally published in 1969 by New York's Maecenas Press-Random House Dalí illustrated Lewis Carroll's world famous novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland have become one of the most sought after Salvador Dalí suites of all time featuring 12 heliogravures (photo engravings) of the original gouaches one for each chapter. Fireworks In Reverse

Ever wondered what fireworks would look like in reverse? Filmmaker Julian Tay used footage of the 2012 New Years fireworks at Docklands in Melbourne, Australia and digitally reversed it. The result is brilliant. Peep the video above and happy new year everybody.

Trampled Snow Art!

UK based artist Simon Beck uses a pair of snow shoes to create these amazing patterns on the snow. Every year he picks a different location this one is at Les Arcs ski resort in France. Each of the patterns could take up two days of "snow trampling" to complete. Peep more photos beyond the fold.
