Cambodian Trees

"Cambodian Trees" a project by french artist Clement Briend that utilizes digital projection of photographs of different sculptures and monuments of deities found in temples and sites all over Cambodia. By projecting the images on the trees at the right angle and light conditions it gives images a whole new dimension. "It’s a beautiful surprise when the projected spirits awaken and reveal themselves at night as though they are made of the towering trees themselves. The photographic light installations echo the spirituality of the few sprouts of nature in the predominantly urban landscapes. It is a visual imagining of the divine figures that inhabit the world, as seen through an environmentally aware spiritual eye." Check out more of these beyond the fold.

Featured 'Fit: Wools & Wheelin'

It's actually getting cold. As a lifelong Southern California resident, I always forget what it feels like to experience temperatures below 75 degrees since it's warm out the majority of the time. Yeah we're spoiled. We actually got a few days of rain so far and it's only November, I actually had to wear a jacket during the day. But you know what's always a good weapon against the elements? Wool. Today we're spotlighting the Lawton jacket and reissued Alomar which are made of this miracle textile fiber. I'm going to keep it So Cal for you though and throw in the Wheelin' tee. Add 'em all together and it makes a pretty dope 'fit. You can find all items at the Vans web shop or at your local OTW account.
The pairing of Wheelin' tee and Lawton jacket is inspired by Southern California winter. The mornings can be chilly and its easy to stack on top of a light tee for when it warms up after the AM.
But sometimes that AM chill lasts the whole day and you gotta button up. Done. Easy snap buttons, a corduroy collar and wool clad exteriors make the Lawton a good choice this winter.
The all-wool Alomar was a winner when it first came out two years ago and now it's back this holiday season. Great materials and tones mesh well with the Lawton.

Photos of Soundwaves

Photographer Fabian Oefner has created this really interesting series of photos entitled "Dancing Colors" with an idea to bridge the acoustical and visual worlds.  While the concept is not new by any means the execution is very good. Here is how Fabian achieved these beautiful photographs: "I attached a microphone to the speaker, which is connected to the flash system. As soon as the speaker emits a sound, the microphone picks it up and sends a signal to the flashes to trigger them. I took the images in a completely darkened room, so I can just leave the shutter open for a few seconds, only the event illuminated by the triggered flash is captured." Rent Money & Rifles: Catchin' Up with Bambu

The release of One Rifle Per Family is a milestone for Bambu; the LA activist/emcee's fifth solo album marks the 10 year anniversary of his first one but it also serves as his last one too. However, this is not the last we will see of Bam. Currently headlining the Rent Money Tour, we caught up with Bambu before his New York show to chit chat about life on the road, the new album and his future. Check it all out after the jump.

Hey Bambu, last time we talked to you, you stated that One Rifle Per Family would be your last solo album. Is that still true? Will One Rifle be your curtain call? Not necessarily a curtain call... more like the closing of a door to explore another one. I really do feel the industry is moving away from the traditional album and I want to hug that curve by keeping up with where I feel it's going. I'm still going to put music out and I'm still going to do shows. Nothing will really change except that I won't be doing full-length albums anymore. I will make my music as accessible as the internet has made ALL music. Does that make sense?

How long did you work on this album? Well, I've been telling people for the past two years that I've been working on this album -- which is a lie. Haha. I've only been working on this album for about 6 months. I was using the excuse to get out of committing to any new projects or features to just clear my head in preparation for the album's creation. So, yeah, six months.
One Rifle Per Family. available now on iTunes & Beatrock

You're currently headlining the Rent Money Tour, with stops everywhere from LA to the PI. How's life on the road? It's fun to be on the road with the guys on this tour; Kixxie Siete and Rey Resurreccion. The hardest part is missing my family. I mean, my set starts with a phone call from my son. Ha. So, I think everyone on the tour knows how difficult that part is for me... the weed and beer helps cope though. Ha.

Photo Recap: Agathe Snow "Tout Dit (2D)"

Agathe Snow solo exhibition "Tout Dit" (2D) opened this weekend at ohwow gallery. The work presented mostly consists of objects as well as a large installation. "Snow articulates hypothetical events, scenarios, and conditions through groupings of these various items. However, unlike the full disclosure afforded by three- dimensional perspective, here, the artist’s use of two-dimensional format translates lapses and incomplete realities due to the limited scope inherent in wall-work."
