Our original boat shoe sneaker, the Vans OTW Cobern, is refined and simplified for its return to the line in Fall 2012. Photo Recap: Kon Trubkovich "Leap Second"

With his fist solo show in LA New York based artist Kon Trubkovich reveals his most personal work to date. A new series of paintings and works on paper with prominent stylistic depiction of the television static and weak transmissions. The most interesting pieces at the show are the large-scale portraits of the artist’s mother, culled from just one second from a home video from the late 80's hence the name of the show "Leap Second" as well as similar works from other sources create a unique and well represented idea. The show runs until June 23rd.

Skateboard Mag 100th Issue Anniversary Party Recap

This past weekend our bros Ako and Atiba Jefferson celebrated the launch of the 100th issue of the Skateboard Mag with a photo show of the favorite images from the past issues and somewhat short but awesome music set by Ray Barbee. In the end of the evening all of the photos were "given out" or grabbed to be precise by the lucky few attendees who were close enough to the walls at the time and didn't mind a little friendly rumble. The event went way late into the night thanks to an abundance of "refreshing beverages" and lots of good peoples.

One of our favorite videos last year was made by a french musician/director Yoann Lemoine aka Woodkid. His latest video "Run Boy Run" follows and expands on the previous effort creating a unique look and style.

A Brief History of John Baldessari narrated by Tom Waits

John Baldessari is turning 81 years old this year in June and coincidentally or maybe not ... LACMA is honoring Baldessari and Clint Eastwood in their first annual"Art + Film Gala" event. To celebrate the event LACMA commissioned this little film about "the epic life of a world-class artist jammed into six minutes" narrated by Tom Waits himself just because Baldessari said "he has a great voice". Baldessari's latest art show is up now at LA's Margo Leavin Gallery. Enjoy!

Last night Lupe Fiasco debuted his first single, "Around My Way (Freedom Ain't Free)", off his highly-anticipated Food & Liquor 2 LP. MOCA Presents: "Rebel" Opening Night Recap

MOCA Presents: "Rebel" opened last weekend at LA's emerging contemporary art space JF Chen. "Rebel is an interrogative ode to Nicholas Ray’s masterpiece "Rebel Without Cause" (1955) conceived by James Franco to embrace and mine the main themes and events in the original film. The exhibition reinterprets the film’s legends, the people involved, its place in Hollywood, film as a medium, and behind-the-scenes footage, in a new, fresh, and unconventional presentation of film, video installation, photography, painting, drawing, and sculpture, housed in and framed by iconic Hollywood structures." Featuring the works of Douglas Gordon, Harmony Korine, Damon McCarthy, Paul McCarthy, Terry Richardson, Ed Ruscha, and Aaron Young. Rebel is on view through June 23 and should be explored in person and certainly not to be missed.

Rock the Bells 2012 Line Up Announced

Last night Guerilla Union hosted a press conference to announce the line up for this year's Rock the Bells. The festival returns this summer with four dates and has been expanded to a two-day event. Headlining acts include Kid Cudi, Nas, Wiz Khalifa, J Cole Atmosphere, Mac Miller, Kendrick Lamar, Method Man & Red Man and Vans OTW Advocate Lupe Fiasco. Everyone and their mom is on the bill, with Salt-N-Pepa, Naughty by Nature, Slick Rick and DJ Quik reppin' classic hip hop as well as Dom Kennedy, Yelawolf, 2 Chainz, A$AP Rocky and Tyga reppin' for the next generation of the genre. DJ Lance Rock and Friends from Yo Gabba Gabba will even make an appearance and did I also mention RTB will see the reunion of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and a special performance by Missy Elliot and Timbaland!?!? This sh*t is going to be bananas, guaranteed. Keep checking Rock The Bells' official site for all of the updates.

Photo Recap: Barry McGee at Prism Gallery

LA's Prism Gallery held an opening reception for Barry McGee's latest solo exhibition this past weekend. The exhibition features a new collection of drawings, paintings, prints, installations sculptures and photos from the acclaimed San Francisco based artist. McGee aka Twist's latest work is very bright and graphic borrowing from different sources such as advertising and found materials maybe chaotic at the first glance but at the same time one find can find a methodically well told story behind the works. The exhibition runs until June 30th.

INSA's Downtown LA Mural

INSA brings another mural to life, this time he brings his craft to city walls of Downtown Los Angeles. INSA's newest work was a joint effort, with LA Freewalls and Daniel Lahoda of Jet Set Graffiti providing supplies for the lively street art.

JR and José Parlá "Wrinkles of The City" in Havana, Cuba

French artist JR continues his amazing "Wrinkles of The City" project and this time he takes it to Havana, Cuba with the help of Cuban- American artist José Parlá bringing the two distinctly different artistic styles into one harmonious set. As a part of The Havana Biennial 2012 the works are sure to be bringing worldwide attention and it certainly changes and refreshes JR's works. More images after the fold.

Nutcrackers by Jennifer Rubell

New York based artist Jennifer Rubell continues her trend of creating art based around or involving food as a subject matter. For her 2011 art series appropriately titled "Nutcrackers" she did 18 life-size sculptures of pre-fab mannequins with each one displayed in such way so that the legs can crush a nut in the inner thigh. The work is also interesting because it changes the traditional viewer-artwork boundary by requiring one to participate in it. The work was recently a part of New York's Frieze Art Fair.

Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor 2 Will be a Double Album

FUSE TV caught up with Lupe Fiasco this weekend at Beale Street Music Festival
and got him to spill some more beans about the Food & Liquor 2! Fans can expect a two-part double album that will carry on the same musicality from the original album from an unrestricted Fiasco, "without the industry constraints, without the trying to please the hardcore fans or get the new fans" to quote him directly. Fiasco fanatics can also expect the album single to (hopefully) drop May 22. Another thing to look out for is "Form Follows Function", another track from the F&L 2 and apparently, "You just can't fuck with it" to quote Lupe once again. Starry Night Light Installation

Photographer Lee Eunyeol creates very elaborate light installations that give the viewer an illusion of night sky as if it was put on the ground creating serene scenes of sleeping nature. As he puts it himself: "Starry night expresses private spaces given by night and various emotions that are not able to be defined and described in the space. I’ve chosen analogue type for the expression which attempts to install electric bulbs in an object to be expressed using back space of night by taking advantage of huge studio. There are two spaces in photographs. One is a space before electric bulbs of familiar landscape are installed and the other is a space after electric bulbs expressed by dispersing personal emotion are installed. Unified light from these two spaces generates a mysterious landscape."

The Gallerian x Vans OTW Pop Up Store

This Saturday, The Gallerian in Bruderstr will become the first pop-up shop for the Vans OTW Collection. The joint shop re-opens at noon on May 5 with a party featuring a photography exhibition by OTW Advocate Dimtri Coste and music by The Discodogs. If you can't make the opening you can still shop the pop up store until May 30. Refer to the flier above for all the details!

Chris Brown and Ron English along with our Vans OTW Advocate Chris Kong were in town to celebrate the release of the limited edition "Dum English" toy line . Both Chris Brown and Ron English were on hand to sign their toys for the adoring fans at the Toy Art Gallery . Ron English x Chris Brown Dum English Exhibition at Corey Helford Gallery

Last night, musician Chris Brown and pop artist Ron English exhibited their Dum English toy line at LA's Corey Helford Gallery. For this special project, the duo collaborated with Vans OTW's Chris Kong to manufacture the vinyl figures under his Made by Monsters label. In addition to showcasing the limited edition toys, Brown presented some of his new artwork and joined English for a live painting session, customizing a Dum English Skull Astronaut sculpture for the crowd of VIPs and media. Moves Like Kate Upton

I can honestly say that Kate Upton is my favorite model right now. Her beauty has caught the eye of the mainstream but it's her fun personality that keeps us fascinated. Check out some of her killer dance moves that have gone viral, the latest being her "Cat Daddy" performance for Terry Richardson but don't miss her "Dougie" either.
