Photo set: Lupe Fiasco at Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall (Via Melophone)

Portland fans packed the house this weekend for Lupe Fiasco's show at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall. The tight squeezing for Fiasco followers was well worth it as Lupe made a huge announcement about the future of his music and freestyled a few times (#1 & #2) for the audience. Renowned for his smart verses and style, Fiasco crushed his set while looking fresh in the Alomar. Check out a few of our favorite pics from the night below and see the whole set at Melophobe.

Via SNAV: There Goes The Neighbourhood

Recently I came across a new group and sound. My attempts to dig up much detail on The Neighbourhood have proven futile. You get this sense that they’re intentionally trying to stay off the grid, which has proven to be a relatively effective marketing strategy in music recently. It’s almost as if the best way to have everyone hear about you is by not telling anyone who you are. I love the band’s logo.

Anyway, here’s what we do know. The band is a quintet from Newbury Park in California. Despite the misplaced “u” in their name, they do not appear to be British, however this first single “Female Robbery” did debut on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio One program. Here is the video.

It has a very Alfred Hitchcock-ish feel to it given the old black and white film footage used. The band also has an EP on the way, one we should see get released later this spring.

Vans OffTheWall.TV: Pass The Bucket | Devon Blood

Last September, we featured Devon Blood's "Keep Laughing" book as a part of the "Cop This Book" column we do from time to time. The book recounts Blood's triumph over adversity as he recovered from a nearly-fatal gunshot wound to the head. A Bay Area tattooer, artist, and skateboarder, his livelihood depended on the motion and steadiness of his body and hands. As a result of his wound Blood lost precise muscle control of his right side and would never be able to ride a bike or skateboard ever again, but he was determined to maintain his art. Overcoming doubts of his doctors and therapists while surprising and inspiring everyone around him, he trained himself to use his left hand how he once used his right. He now paints, draws, and tattoos left-handed. The OffTheWall.TV crew caught up with the artist our Pass The Bucket series. Get inspired and watch his episode above.

Via SNAV: Twitchin' with Revolve & Novation

I got a chance to go to Dee & Ricky’s restaurant for an event thrown by Revolve and Novation. The event was for a new piece of equipment called the Twitch. The Twitch is the future of DJing. This machine does it all. It’s like turntables, CDJs, EFX and mixer all in one.
It was cool to see people out having fun and learning about equipment at the same time. Novation was on the scene teaching people how to use the twitch. It was funny watching people that only spin on turntables try to learn how to use the twitch.

His latest exhibition "Neverlasting Miracles" opened at Merry Karnowsky Gallery featuring numerous large scale intricately detailed pieces, Schorr's signature style, which takes the viewer into another plain filled with pop culture icons and known locales with a surreal twist. The crown jewel of the exhibition is a new giant sculpture, ‘Antidote for a Worrisome World’, the 9 foot reimagining of Humpty Dumpty, the piece is quite amazing and really should be seen in person. For those whose display space is limited there is also a smaller bronze version of the sculpture. The show is open until April 14th.

The Brooklyn Warehouse

I recently went to Brooklyn to visit the Brooklyn Warehouse. This is a place where you can find toys, records clothes, and just a bunch of cool things. The store is on Roebling and 6th this is a spot that you need to check out when you are in BK.
Okay toys are like my first love so when I saw some of the big boy toys and lost it. They have the 1000 percent Kaws, Futura and Stash figures. Talk about classics. They also had a lot of other vintage toys all around the store.

Photo Recap: Cass Bird "Rewilding"

LA's premier art and rare books boutique LeadApron held a photo exhibition and a signing for Cass Bird, recognized photographer and filmmaker whose works graced covers of New York Times T Magazine as well as various fashion campaigns. "Rewilding" is Cass Bird's first book which was shoot in the summers of 2009 and 2010 in Sassafrass, Tennessee, with a group of young women. The Style Blogger Spotlight on the Vans OTW Larkin

"Confident, clean, put-together, 'successful' and not too 'uptight'" - how does one pull that off? The Style Blogger recently addressed that question as he discussed men's fashion with a group of women and put together a few looks that channel sophistication while keeping it casual. His "Day to Night" look paired dress slacks and a suit jacket with a plain black t-shirt and matching Larkins from the Vans OTW Collection.
His explanation of the look: Here’s an example of a well-edited wardrobe making your life easier (aside from positively impacting all of your first impressions). Sometimes you don’t have time to run home after your suit-and-tie job before heading out for the night. If you wear the right suit (and it fits properly, of course) all you have to do is sneak a pair of sleek lowtop sneakers and a dark t-shirt into your business bag.
Or you could just stash them in your desk, next to your neutral shirt, dark solid tie and bottle of whiskey.

Definitely the perfect combination of class and casual. Check out the rest of the article on The Style Blogger.
