Photo Recap: Os Gemeos "Miss You"
LA's Prism Gallery held an opening for "Miss You" an exhibition of new works by the Brazilian duo Os Gemeos this past weekend. One might remember Os Gemeos works featured at the "Art in the Streets" exhibition at The Museum of Contemporary Art in 2011. This time around Os Gemeros twins or Gustavo and Otavio Pandolfo presented new works which take the viewer through a labyrinth of visual language fashioned from the artists minds. Upon entering the exhibition, the viewer is transported into an alternate world filled with color, light and sound. The gallery is literally taken over by the colorful works and large scale pieces that fill the two story space. Check out the images from the opening night.

Photo Recap: Terry Richardson "Terrywood"
Terry Richardson’s first solo exhibition in Los Angeles, titled "Terrywood", opened with a bang last weekend at OH WOW gallery. Consisting of over 25 of his latest photographs the show is inspired by the Hollywood life and stereotypical iconic images seen thru out LA. The opening night drew a slew of celebrities and paparazzi on the red carpet as well as a huge crowd gathered outside of the gallery space in a true Hollywood's spectacle. Vans OTW Collection Spring 2012: Alomar in (Bio Wash Canvas) Lead
The Alomar updates the look of the Chukka Boot, refining the Classic silhouette into a modern, slimmed down high top that pushes the boundaries between skate and street fashion. This spring, the Alomar's canvas uppers are bio washed for a tonal grey treatment throughout the uppers and outsole. Finished off with embossed tongue branding and stitch detailing, this new colorway of Alomar ships to Vans OTW Collection retailers this March.

Vans OTW x The Blackouts Reggae Compilation LP
In 2011, Vans OTW and The Blackouts (Ako and Atiba Jefferson) set out to create a free reggae compilation featuring music from VP Record's vast catalog of artists. VP Records houses the best in reggae and dance hall music and the twin DJ duo spent weeks carefully selecting each artist for this vinyl compilation. Once the tracks were chosen, the Advocates and Vans set out for Jamaica to finalize the project. In Kingston and Trench Town, The Blackouts were able to walk the steps of Bob Marley and Peter Tosh and photographed living reggae legends such as I Wayne, King Jammy and Ding Dong for the album artwork. Although The Blackouts time as OTW Advocates has come and gone, they’ll always be a part of the Vans family.

Jacob Sutton’s L.E.D. Surfer
Fashion photographer and filmmaker Jacob Sutton spent three very cold nights on the slopes of Tignes in the Rhône-Alpes region of south-eastern France filming pro snowboarder William Hughes shredding the mountain while wearing L.E.D.suit by John Spatcher. As Jacob Sutton says “I've always been excited by unusual ways of lighting things, so it seemed like an exciting idea to make the subject of the film the only light source.”

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
In celebration of the Presidents Day here is the trailer for "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter". The film explores the secret life of one of the greatest US presidents, and the untold story that shaped a nation. Visionary filmmakers Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov bring a fresh and visceral voice to the bloodthirsty lore of the vampire, imagining Lincoln as history's greatest hunter of the undead. Enjoy!

Poppin' Pritchards
The Pritchard made its debut a little over a year ago in the Vans OTW Collection. We presented our take on the traditional dress shoe back in Spring 2011 with a few tweaks to the OG design.
While we kept the general construction of the uppers, we played with the outsole, integrating our Vans DNA into the silhouette with a faux-heeled rubber cupsole paved with waffle tread. This season we play with the outsole some more, hitting the black open canvas colorway with a rich green pop and the brown shag suede style with a brick red detail.

Chicago's Cloud Gate "Luminous Field" Light Show
One of Chicago's most famous public installation located in Millennium Park, "Cloud Gate" also known as "The Bean" by contemporary artist Anish Kapoor got a little makeover by a creative team Luftwerk. Using the sculptures reflective surface with the help of a dozen of projectors and lights the group turned "The Bean" into a light show titled "Luminous Field". The show starts at 6pm everyday and runs through February 20th. So if you are in Chitown, do check it out in person.

Takashi Murakami “Ego”
Takashi Murakami is set to open his seminal solo show in Qatar featuring more than 60 works from 1997 to the present, as well as several new pieces. Including his famous works such as Kaikai Kiki , Lots of Faces and Pom and Me, installation of LED pedestals with digital animation, a circus tent that doubles as a cinema, and a new 100-meter long painting that wraps around the entire space exhibition. One of the most impressive pieces presented is a giant inflatable balloon of Murakami himself at the entrance of the exhibition. Check out a few preview photos from this amazing event.

Wes Anderson is back! For his latest film he once again teamed up with another talented writer/director Roman Coppola. LA's Known Gallery hosted a two day only engagement for Michael Miller's solo show "West Coast Hip Hop, A Culture in Pictures" this past weekend. The exhibition featured never before seen photographs of some of the biggest names in rap, rock and jazz of the ‘90s composed from Miller's portfolio of over 300 record covers, ad campaigns and private sessions spanning 25 years.
