Via SNAV: A Trip Abroad Pt. I
Before the event I got a chance to go check out the town. One of the areas I really wanted to see was Checkpoint Charlie. The name was given by the Western Allies to the best-known Berlin Wall crossing point between East Berlin and West Berlin during the Cold War. Here is a shot of what Checkpoint Charlie used to look like.
As I was making my way to the Checkpoint there was these very artistic bears on every block. I didn’t know what they was for but it was cool to see different artist display their art on these bears.
As I was walking to the famous landmark there was this picture of a solider in the middle of the street standing about 50 feet tall. I didn’t understand why this was there.
This was a serious deal some time ago. Imagine in America if there was a wall that separated the east coast and the west coast. I really couldn’t even envision that. Thank GOD we live in America.
I wanted to learn more about the history so I went to the Checkpoint Charlie Museum. It was so much history in this place. It was a real experience to see what people went through in history for freedom.
There was a section of the museum where they showed how people use to sneak pass the wall in all types of objects to be free. This was mind blowing to see what people use to squeeze into to be free.
It was time to get ready to head back to the hotel it was a bunch of cool signs I noticed on the way back. I had to stop when I saw the Golden Arches I couldn’t resist.
