Music Video: "Maniac" - Kid Cudi f/ Cage (Directed by Shia LaBeouf)

Kid Cudi enlists the services of actor Shia LaBeouf once again. This time LaBeouf was pegged to direct the visuals for Cudi's "Maniac" track from his sophomore album. Mr. Rager definitely brings his fury to the surface for this one and the film may not be suitable for those under 18 due to violence.

Pumpkin Sculptures

Pumpkin carving is a traditional Halloween pastime for youths and kidults during this time of year. Most keep it simple, carving standard triangle eyes and square tooth smiles. Others bring in an element of craftsmanship when creating their jack-o-lanterns, like Ray Villafane and Andy Bergholtz (above). The pumpkin artists dedicate four to five hours on each sculpture, exfoliating the pumpkin skin to form their designs instead of cutting through it. They know what they're doing, Villafane has been doing this for over ten years and Bergholtz is a longtime sculptor that recently made the switch to pumpkins. Get a closer look at their work and some tips from the duo at the Las Vegas Sun.

Throwback Thursday: "Child's Play"

Don't act like this movie didn't scare everything out of you as a kid. Don't argue...no...no...don't play. As an adult the concept of a two foot plastic doll going on a murder spree sounds absolutely ridiculous, but you know you were suspicious of your toys after watching this in your early years. Anyway, happy Halloween!

FAILE Mural on Houston & Bowery in NYC

The art collective FAILE created their mark on the corner of Houston and Bowery Street in New York City. The mural wall, first decked out by Kenny Scharf, has been updated with the group's vintage comic book imagery.
Although it looks amazing as is, the FAILE plans to add more to the space and has been limited by the weather conditions on the East Coast. To prevent any unauthorized revisions to the mural, The Hole NYC has hired 24-hour security to watch over it. With that being said, onlookers are encouraged to check this piece out for themselves!

I do my best to try and get through a 100 or so e-mails in the morning and break my day up by different projects we are doing within OTW. For instance, I may spend a couple hours booking travel or working with Advocates on their Passion projects then flip the scrip and work with our media partners on placement and future advertising opportunities. We are a complete in-house marketing department so anything you see hear or know about OTW comes from here.

"The Big Bad Wolf" - Duck Sauce

Probably best known for "Barbara Streisand",  Duck Sauce has something new for the Halloween season with "Big Bad Wolf". A-Trak and Arman Van Helden stick to their minimal lyrics + strong beats formula for this one and add howls in between the arrangement. Not going to lie, it's kind of catchy and it's just the right time for this kind of music. Put it in your party playlist this Halloween. The DJ duo created a horror movie/comedy vibe for the song's NSFW music video and you can check it out on The FADER.

Mister Cartoon and LIVESTRONG HQ

Vans OTW Advocate Mister Cartoon brought his Southern California style to Texas this past weekend for LIVESTRONG. Cartoon donated his services to Lance Armstrong's foundation and created this wall piece at their Austin headquarters. The LIVESTRONG HQ is located in a predominately Hispanic neighborhood and the mural was designed to better connect the community with the foundation with its cultural imagery.
Mister Cartoon broke down his inspiration for his newest wall piece:
"The images reflect the struggle of man’s survival, dreams, hopes and ambitions. The car represents sport and is a dream car for the community, the rose represents rebirth and challenge, the woman clown represents the good times and the bad times, the genie lamp is a symbol of the community’s dreams and hope and the smile now cry later skulls represent smile in the face of adversity."
Aside from painting the mural, Cartoon managed to design LIVESTRONG's 2011 Commemorative Ride for the Roses poster and made time to talk to the local youth. The LA-based artist met Austin's East Side Memorial High School students and inspired them with his personal story of how art kept him on the right path and how it takes hard work, not just talent, to make it in life. You tell 'em Toons!

Spike Jonze's "Mourir Auprès de Toi" Animated Film

Famed filmmaker Spike Jonze got together with designer Olympia Le-Tan whose embroidered clutch-bags come to life a tragicomic stop-motion animation "Mourir Auprès de Toi" (To Die By Your Side) shot on the shelves of the famed Parisian bookstore Shakespeare and Company. The project started after Jonze asked for a "Catcher in the Rye" embroidery to put on his wall and the plucky Le-Tan asked for a film in return. French filmmaker Simon Cahn co-directed the feature over the period of six months along with the team who spent night and day animating the 3,000 pieces of felt Le-Tan had cut by hand.
