José Parlá "Character Gestures" Opening Recap

José Parlá returns to Los Angeles with his latest exhibition "Character Gestures" at OH WOW gallery. "Character Gestures" is comprised of paintings, mono-transfers and installations, this exhibition builds on the artist’s earlier work and colors that dealt with the concept of psycho-geography and depicted distressed architectural surfaces layered with calligraphic text." In a collection of work on paper, which Parlá refers to as “mono-transfers,” he experiments with a form of frottage, documenting his new paintings via the impressions they leave on paper. The exhibition is open to pubic until October 22nd. Check out the opening recap after the jump.
