Thrasher's Fast Lights and Summer Nights

Matt "Thrasher" Toma was raised in Southern California in the '90s and absorbed the sounds of the time. The generation saw a diverse mix of genres within the decade - we saw the fading of metal, the rise of grunge and the genesis of West Coast rap. Thrasher takes all of these influences into the studio for his first mixtape, Fast Lights Summer Nights. With the guidance of world famous DJ Skee, Thrasher is ready to show the world what he's got! Get to know Thrasher in our mini-interview below:
Which artists did you listen to as a kid?
Growing up I listened to No Doubt, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sublime, 2 Pac, Snoop & Dre, Cypress Hill and anything else that came out of Southern California.

When did Matt Toma become Thrasher?
"Thrasher" was born the day I was able to say what I wanted and do what I say. My name Thrasher to me represents an aggressive style with whatever I do whether it be my delivery on a song, my attitude, rocking out on stage, or in the bedroom with a lovely lady. People consider me the 'Wild One' and the spokesperson for today's troubled youth.

How was your first show?
My first show was at the Whisky A Go-Go on Sunset Blvd, which I call "home", to a near sold out crowd! Still to this day it was one of my most epic experiences. Shout out to my girl Celina Denkins, love ya!

What inspires and motivates you as an artist?
My inspiration comes from the heart to beat the struggle. I've had a roller coaster of a life and to beat the struggle has to be the best feeling ever to experience. My motivation is the people. My number 1 goal is to inspire, motivate, and entertain the people as well as being someone the younger generation can look up to.

How was working with DJ Skee on your first release?
Working with DJ Skee is an honor because this is my first mixtape and to have someone with the type of notoriety that he has to showcase my talents is a true blessing. Wouldn't have picked anyone else for this task.

Do you have any advice for those trying to make it in the industry?
My advice to anyone trying to work in the music industry is just be whoever you want to be and do whatever you want. If there is a will there is a way, rock out!
