Are you a member of any sneaker forums?
I am an active member on OTWS.net, ISS and HB. I’m not really a fan of HB’s new layout. My username on all of these is “wolfstrice09”.
When did you start collecting sneakers?

I started seriously collecting about four years ago my sophomore year in HS - coming up on five years.

Why did you start collecting sneakers?

I started collecting because I got tired of having the same kind of shoes as my friends and other people at school. I wanted to branch out and began picking up more crazy colors and more limited shoes that no one here in Oregon knew about (Vaults and Syndicates).

How many sneakers do you currently have?

At my house right now I have a solid closet full of about 80 pairs (all Vans). After moving out of the parents place I didn’t have enough room for my full collection which consists of a solid 200+ Vans and only a handful of Jordans (3s and 5s), AM (1s and 90s), as well as a few of Brandon Roy
How often do you pick up new shoes?

As much as I can! I love getting the latest Vaults, Syndicates or collaborations. Sometimes Vans releases too many of these at once and it becomes harder to get all of them at the same time but I do my best. I also keep a close eye on eBay for some older releases that I missed out on.

How much do you estimate you’ve invested in your collection?
I really like to stay away from thinking about how much money I spend on shoes but when you think that most of the Vault and Syndicate Vans that release are anywhere from $70-100 + $10-15 shipping, multiply that by 200+. YIKES! About $20,000. And those are just Vans. Enough to buy a nice car! Ha
Do you deadstock any of your pairs?
I do deadstock some of my shoes however I do not do it on purpose. I prefer buying shoes to wear them and put them to good use. Most recently I completed the 006 Wtaps Syndicate set. I am yet to wear the Chukkas, Eras and Slip- Ons, Also picked up the 001 Mr. Cartoon Syndicates and haven’t had nice enough weather in Oregon to take them out. Those are the only deadstock shoes in my closet however I know for a fact there are more at the parents’ house.
What’s your favorite pair of Vans?

I don’t have a single favorite however anything Taka Hayashi always finds its way to the top of my list. I do really like the latest Wtaps Syndicates, both the Sk8-Mids and Authentics.

Which OTW silhouette is your favorite?

The Bedford, most comfortable IMO.

When looking to add to your collection, w
hat do you look for in a shoe? What do you avoid?
I like to stay away from black shoes and I always look at the materials first. If I like the materials I’m that much more inclined to purchase the shoes. I try not to get sucked into any hype that a particular shoe has and just get the shoe because I like it, not because of that hype.
Which footwear trend should die?

It kind of already died, but stuffing your tongues. I don’t think that adds anything to the shoes.

Which footwear trend should continue?

Reconstruction - I like to see what people can do when they buy a plain shoe and revam
p it to be a one of a kind shoe!
What’s the best part about sneaker collecting?

The high that you get when you have a knock on the door from the delivery man and you know that it’s a pair of new shoes. You get to the door and open that box and see the shoes for the first time, lace them up and try them on.

What’s the hardest part about sneaker collecting?

The hardest part for me sometimes is deciding between two or three pairs. Also having enough room for your collection gets tough at times.

Have you ever been dooped into buying fakes/knock-offs?

Never! Thank god.

Describe your sense of style:

I’m not sure how to describe my style. I would say retro is a pretty good word for it though. I rock Vans because they were the original skate shoe and I like ‘70s and ‘80s style apparel. Bright colors also suck me in.

What inspires your style?

Skaters & hip hop of the '70s and’ 80s.

Do you have any other hobbies?

I own a Suzuki GSX-R and I love taking it to the race track and tearing it up.
